Some call him a good man; others, a prophet who lived long ago and is dead; to some others he is a scam or at the very best an enigma they don’t want to concern themselves with. Even amongst the people who are called by His name: Christians, He represents different things at different times. Miracle worker, Best friend, Lord, Teacher, Senior Brother, God are but a few of the various appellations and titles Jesus Christ is called by believers. Yes, He is all this and much more. Hence it is easy to forget the very most important thing He is to mankind: Jesus Christ is the Saviour!
Jesus Saves From Sin
21 She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God]. Matthew 1:21 (AMP)
23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
Sin is the great wall separating mankind from the warm embrace of a loving and righteous God. With sin in the way, the grim reality is an eternity of darkness and death. Jesus died to pay the full penalty for the sins of all mankind and He rose from the dead to secure eternal life to anyone that will accept this sacrifice. Heaven is not for “good people”. Heaven is for saved people who have been redeemed by the precious blood of the lamb. Are you saved from the power of sin? Jesus still saves from sin.
Jesus Saves From Satan
13 God rescued us from the dark power of Satan and brought us into the kingdom of his dear Son,14 who forgives our sins and sets us free. Colossians 1:13-14 (CEV)
“If I leave the devil alone, he will leave me alone and not trouble me.” That is what a lady once said to me many years ago. How wrong she is. The devil is the father of wickedness and the whole world is under the sway of his wicked acts. The only ark of refuge is found in Jesus Christ. He sets us free from the power of Satan and gives us the power to live boldly and without fear in this world. Are you in the bondage of Satan? Jesus stills saves from Satan.
Jesus Saves From Sorrows
25 Therefore He is able also to save to the uttermost (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them. Hebrews 7:25 (AMP)
Jesus is alive. He is not dead. Whatever it is we will face as believers, He is still able to save us. He will save to the uttermost! Sickness, afflictions, hardships, and any kind of sorrows, the Master is able to save and deliver. Are you in sorrow? Jesus still saves fro sorrows.
Want to be saved?
Then say this simple prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I come to you just as I am. I confess my sins and repent of them. Please save me and wash me clean. Thank you for dying for me. Thank you for rising from the dead. Help me to live for you. In Jesus name I pray.”
Congratulations! If you said that prayer with faith in your heart, you are saved! It is as simple as that! Share the news with people around you. You’ve taken the greatest decision you will ever take. Please get a bible and start to read it and discover more about Jesus and your new life in Him. I would recommend you start with the gospel of John. Also importantly, seek out a local assembly of Christians around you for fellowship.
I am so glad Jesus still saves.
