A Tribute to Bobby

Bobola Kolawola

You have made the ultimate sacrifice.

You were brutally murdered serving Nigeria.

I have many whys

Why this tragedy?

Why did you join the Nigeria Police Force after the very many years you labored to become a doctor?

Why did they post you to Maiduguri?

Why did the Boko Haram terrorists not spare you?

Why do we live in a nation that the sanctity of life is losing meaning?

Silence.  Painful silence

I remember your determination.

You refused to be denied. A  physician you wanted to be. A physician you became.

I remember your smiles

You lit up conversations. You were a blessing to many

I remember your humility

Big in frame but gentle in interaction

Thank you for your service

No where was too far. No time was too awkward. You were our able OTIC pilot.

Patiently and joyfully, you taught me to drive. You were there to encourage and share with me the joy of “hanging” a car.

Big Bobby

I will miss you

We will meet at the Master’s feet

Death where is thy sting

Grave where is thy victory

He lives

Bobby, the only friend and brother i know

    1. If only he knew, he would have decided to stay back in the Southwest or better still travel out of Nigeria. I only hope we have an honourable indeed to make laws that will make terrorism a criminal offence punishable by death. RIP big brother.

    I hate this country!
Why are we choked with clueless leaders?
Just a month, we were busy with pounded yam and laughing over a cup of wine.
May your soul rest in peace, a giant with personified humility.

Bobby was killed by a band of thugs chanting an walking an illusion to turn Nigeria into a wholly Islamic state. Their lunacy and morbid hatred has claimed thousand of innocent lives, one of which is our friend, buddy. A man who toiled to add value to myself, community and country and yet was brutally killed for perhaps the accident of his place of birth and his religious conviction. His faith in Jesus marked him out for execution. Bobby, cry not for your loss is NIgeria’s shame. You chose to serve your country but your country let you down. You were a gentleman, intensly affable yet was marked for an untimely dead by thugs who ought to know but would never know that they killed the wrong man-an innoncent man who has his God’s right to choose. Yes it is your right to choose your creed. Bobby, adieu. Sleep on and well for God will avenge you. Your life is now secured. The response to the insurgency has assumed detailed response from a government which initially saw Shekeau and his groups of vandals as an irritation that would fade away if treated with kid glooves. Like can aver, the group have festered and spread taking massive spread of land. Bobby, rest on even though your music has stopped but the melody of a great person which you are remins. Sleep on and well till the resurrection morning Doctor and soldier of Christ.
